SO DOES FATHER!

That I take after my old dad I'm told by my mamma; 
It's something to be proud of, too, 
For he's a regular star
There's Mister Brown next door to us
His wife is his delight; 
He kisses her and cuddles 
From morning until night.

And so does father! So does father!
Misses Brown he loves to chaff
Squeezes her and makes her laugh. 
Poor old girl! She doesn't know what to do 
Her old man keeps on ticking and so does father too

When mother takes her basket on 
Her arm o' Saturday night,
And father follows up behind, 
It is a pretty sight!
To lay their bit of money out
From shop to shop they roam. 
And mother always buys as much
As she can carry home 

And so does father! so does father! 
Mother carries hers with pride;
Father carries his inside.
Comes home "rolling," singing "Too-ral-oo!" 
Mother comes home with a load, and so does father too!

We haven't got a bath-room, but
We've got a water-butt,
So when we think at "washing down"
It's time we had a "cut,"
We wait till Sunday morning when 
There's nobody to see,
Then jump into the water-butt
As lively as can be,

And so does father! so does father! 
Once a week the familee
In the water-butt you'll see.
There's only one towel - one for all the crew! 
So we run up and down till we get dry, and so does father too!
 
Our tom cat is a terror to
The other cats about,
For all day long he's fast asleep,
And ev'ry night he's out.
He goes a-rambling on the tiles,
Just like a gay old toff,
And comes home in the morning "whacked" 
With half his whiskers off!

And so does father! so does father! 
Ev'ry night our cat goes out,
Chasing other cats about.
Comes home starving - ribs a-poking through,
The "Ten commandments" down his face, and so does father too!

We've got a nice new servant girl 
To do about the house.
A country girl is Mary, and
As simple as a mouse.
She isn't half bad-looking and 
Her price is rather cheap;
There's one thing most unfortunate
The girl walks in her sleep,
 
And so does father! so does father! 
Mary gets up like a mouse_
Takes a walk around the house,
Fast asleep all the time_ it's true!
Then she goes back to bed again, and so does father too!
