Connor, TW

TW Connor (1864-1936, real name: Thomas Widdecombe) was a semi professional songwriter who produced a string of popular songs and monologues from the 1890s until the years following The Great War. His most famous songs include She was one of the early birds sung by George Beauchamp and Harry Champion’s A little bit of cucumber. He wrote many of the monologues performed by Billy Bennett. According to his Wikipedia entry, alongside his songwriting “he worked most of his life as an administrative officer in the Port of London”.
