A Scottish tongue-twister of a song, sung as fast as you can to the tune of The Irish Washerwoman<\/em>. It was officially co-written, “composed” and sung by the prominent Scots comedian\u00a0Harry Lauder<\/a>, first appearing in around 1905. (Though Lauder didn’t write The Irish Washerwoman!<\/em> tune and the words often deviate considerably from his version.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was later collected from the singing of traditional singers in America, Canada, England, Scotland, Ireland, and Australia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
