I met a bonnie lassie on the Portobello Pier,\nShe was lovely and looked so shy.\nI was sorry for her, that's as sure as I am here,\nSo I just walked over and I winked my eye.\nShe was standing blushing, and she giggled and she sighed,\nI said, \"My lassie, it's a braw bricht nicht.\"\nThen I slipped my arm aroond aboot her and to kiss her tried.\nThen we both went strollin' in the pale moon light.\n\nThen I cuddled her, she cuddled me.\nI am as happy as a sailor on the sea,\nFor the Portobello lassie says she's goin' to marry me.<\/em>\n\nHer and I got very, very, very, very, very thick,\nI held her hand and she held mine.\nI got very busy, and in less than half a tick\nI was teasing her and I could see she liked it fine.\nI told her I would treat her to a very special treat,\nSo I stuck to her like a lump of glue.\nWe got into a corner and we sat upon a seat,\nAnd the seat we sat upon it just held two.\n\nShe goes to kirk on Sunday when the bells begin to ring.\nShe sings in the choir and there is nae doot,\nHer face is very, very solemn when she starts to sing,\nBut ye ought to see her laughin' when the kirk comes oot.\nI've been very happy, I've been courtin' her a year.\nNever had such a time in all my life,\nSo I think I'll paint and decorate the Portobello Pier,\nWi' Turkey red the day that she becomes my wife.<\/pre>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
