Songwriters AJ Mills<\/a> and George Everard certainly churned out a lot of songs, and I can’t see a lot of quality control went into this one before it was published. I wonder how often it was actually performed by Charles Bignell? my searches in contemporary newspapers have not turned up any reviews of him singing it…<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It must have had some degree of popularity as a parody of the chorus was remembered almost 70 years later by Cecilia Costello:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
