A little boy was talking to another boy next door,\nWho was playing with a lot of Christmas toys upon the floor.\nSaid he: 'Where did you get those from? They are a bit all right.'\nThe other boy replied: 'Why Santie Claus brought them last night.'\n'That's funny,' said the little chap. 'I hung my stocking too,\nBut Santie Claus forgot me and he's brought them all to you.'\n\nWhy don't Santa Claus bring something to me?\nWhy don't he never never call?\nOther girls and boys get plenty of toys,\nBut I get nothing at all.\nI've heard of Christmas carols;\nI've seen a Christmas tree.\nBut I must have been a very naughty naughty little boy\nFor he never brings nothing to me.<\/em>\n\nThe little chap went in the house, his mother tried to find.\nHe saw her and he said: 'Say, isn't Santie Claus unkind?\nHe's left a lot of lovely toys for that kid there next door,\nHe cheeks his mother too much more than I do you I'm sure.\nI wonder what I've done that he should never come in here.\nPerhaps you know the reason. Won't you tell me Mummy dear?\n\nWhy don't Santa Claus bring something to me?\nWhy don't he never never call?\nOther girls and boys get plenty of toys,\nBut I get nothing at all.\nI've heard of Christmas carols;\nI've seen a Christmas tree.\nI must have been a very naughty naughty little boy\nFor he never brings nothing to me.'<\/em>\n\nThe boy said to his mother as a tear fell from her eye:\n'I'll write to Santie Claus tonight and ask the reason why.\nDear Santie Claus, he wrote, you quite forgot to bring some toys\nTo me just like you bring to all the other little boys.\nI'm sending this to heaven 'cause my mummy says you're there,\nAnd please excuse me 'cause I haven't got a stamp to spare.'\n\nWhy don't Santa Claus bring something to me?\nWhy don't he never never call?\nOther little boys get plenty of toys,\nBut I get nothing at all.\nI've heard of Christmas carols;\nI've seen a Christmas tree.\nBut I must have been a very naughty naughty little boy\n'Cause he never brings nothing to me.'<\/em><\/pre>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
A tear-jerker co-written and popularised by the extremely successful performer and recording artist\u00a0Billy Williams<\/a> with Fred Godfrey. Not to be confused with the 1937 song The little boy that Santa Claus forgot<\/em>, made famous by Nat King Cole, Vera Lynn and others….<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A snatch of the song was collected by Bob & Jacqueline Patten from the singing of Charlie Shavers in 1979 and that version can be heard at the British Library Sound Archive<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n
